First, host Steve Jones was fired, then came the announcement that judge Nicole Scherzinger was OUT.
And finally, Paula Abdul also was shown the door.
According to a show source, 'X Factor' season 2 offsite meetings are taking place-- hosted by show creator Simon Cowell.
The purpose: To discuss what went wrong and what was done right on season 1 of the Fox singing competition.
According to one source, Paula Abdul's role was seen as "irrelevant to the mix," in part through no fault of her own. (As mentor to the groups, her contestants were picked off early in the competition).
As for Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger, another show insider says the "X Factor" host was notified by a show producer around 7:30pm Eastern on Monday evening that his option was not being picked up. (Cowell did not call Jones personally to deliver the news.)
Soon after, Scherzinger was informed that her contract also would not be renewed. The host and judge did not receive an explanation for the decision, but a source close to the show says Cowell has decided that the show needs a bigger celebrity on the panel next season.
A source says LA Reid, the fourth judge on the X Factor panel, has not been informed of any change to his status as judge.

Brand's "RustyRocket" handle is no longer included on Katy's list of 83 people she follows.
Russell, however, is still following his estranged wife on his Twitter page.
The couple had a flirty history on Twitter, which included Russell infamously posting a picture of his wife with no make-up.
A source told Us Weekly: "She's limiting those interactions. He's being so atrocious that she feels like she never really knew him. She doesn't want to look battered and have people for sorry for her. She's very strong and confident. Katy is insulted and feels betrayed that Russell has treated her so poorly. She will never forgive him. Ever."
February 8th marks the three-year anniversary of Chris Brown's assault on his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.

And multiple sources have confirmed to Us Weekly that Rihanna and Chris have been secretly hooking up for almost a year.
A source said that Rihanna and Chris "meet up very casually" and that Rihanna "comes to see Chris anytime she's in LA."
A music industry source also told US: "They can't get enough of each other. I don't see it ending well. Rihanna loves to live dangerously, and talking to and hooking up with Chris is all part of that."
But Chris' people are denying the whole story, especially since he's dating his girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.
His reps said: "He and Rihanna are just friends. He's not cheating."

The friend said: "Miley probably spent $50,000 to lose 15 pounds in a few weeks. She didn't care what it cost as long as she looked good!"
Kristen Wiig is "not planning on doing" a "Bridesmaids" sequel.
She told E! News, "We had a special time making the first one, but we're really excited to try something else."
Wiig recently announced that she and "Bridesmaids" cowriter Annie Mumolo are working on a new script. "It's going to be a little bit of a different tone, but it's going to be a comedy, for sure."

RIHANNA TALKS SMACK, SAYS SHE'S IN "A LEAGUE OF MY OWN"
Rihanna has gone after the mainstream music industry by claiming that nobody else is in her league.
She said: "There's competition everywhere. The whole music industry is competition. Beyonce is an inspiration. She's a great artist and I feel honored to be mentioned in the same sentence but we're different performers with different styles."
Fox television network said yesterday there were no plans for a spin-off of "Glee" and there will be changes to Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" after the show's first season on US television.
"Glee" fans will be glad to hear that Lea Michele, one of the show's leads, will still be part of the show's upcoming season in which the characters graduate.
According to Kevin Reilly, president of entertainment at Fox: "There will not be a 'Glee' spinoff, but those characters will graduate and it's led to a really interesting idea that I think is going to give us something really cool to dig into next season."
Fox said it reached the top spot for the No. 1 reality series overall with "The X Factor," despite the new singing competition's rocky start not quite living up to creator Simon Cowell's predictions.
Reilly said he was "thrilled" with the show's standing in the crowded singing competition market alongside such shows as "American Idol" with popular host Ryan Seacrest and "The Voice," but added there were going to be some changes from the "relentless" Cowell.
A new HOST?
The Fox exec said, "Hosting, as we know, it is a much harder job than meets the eye. I think everybody now has come to realize the value of Ryan Seacrest," adding that whether "X-Factor" host Steve Jones "is the guy or not, it comes under the heading of growth in general so there will be some tweaks to the show."
Reilly said he would like to keep Seacrest, whose $45 million contract with "Idol" is up for renewal. NBC is also determined to keep Seacrest and expand his role within their network.
A sequel to "Bridesmaids" is in the works WITHOUT one of the original movie's leads: "Saturday Night Live" star Kristen Wiig.
She is refusing to star in a sequel.
She says, "We are writing something else."
Sources say money is a big reason why.
The six principal cast members (Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) were not satisfied with the $100,000 bonus each received.
"Bridesmaids" was produced for about $32 million and grossed $288 million worldwide.
